Bokeh: The aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. The Bokeh (out of focus) effect was formulated for aesthetic and dramatic purposes. In particular forms of storytelling: it visually guides focal points, becomes the dramatic introduction to the next chapter, or can render a certain ambiguity to its audience. That is the beauty of this aesthetic: The notion that anything can arise once the frame focuses.
